Indian Head Massage And Ayurveda
The Indian Head massage, also known as Champissage (Champi + massage) or Shiroabhyanaga is a widely popular form of head massage. It is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing beliefs of India.
In the Indian culture, oil-based head massage is quite common and the skills have been handed down from generation to generation. Most Indians apply oil about two times a week, as they believe it helps reduce stress and it keeps their hair in good condition.
The Shiroabhyanaga is fairly popular in the west owing to its flexibility and easy access to providing the massage. Best of all, it can be given anywhere and anytime to produce a soothing effect on the mind and body instantly.
In learning this massage, students will understand the art of utilising hands and fingers to knead, rub and press the tissues of the neck, shoulders, scalp and upper back to calm, soothe and rejuvenate the client.
At Aithein, students will learn the application of Champissage on the sitting posture of the client. They will also analyze the use and effects of different ayurvedic and herbal oils according to the symptoms and how to apply their knowledge to create relaxation in the muscles of the neck, shoulder and back of their clients.
Students will be taught the scientific effects of using Champissage to treat migraine, insomnia, neck and shoulder pains.
